چکیده

There is an urgent global need for the ecological intensification of agricultural systems to reduce negative impacts on environment while meeting rising demand products. Enriching grasslands with floral species a tool promote diversity and associated services at higher trophic levels, ultimately, enhance landscape matrix. Here, we studied organic pastures-based dairy production system plant enhanced grass–clover pastures respect effect activity density, functional traits, carabid assemblages, richness beetles. To understand land management beetles, two types low relatively high diversities in integrated crop–livestock rotational grazing (ICLS). As comparison, permanent conventionally managed maize were studied. We installed pitfall traps three weeks early summer, autumn. In total, 11,347 beetles 66 caught. Grass–clover did not differ habitat guilds, or richness, but conventional show density autumn proportion eurytopic mobile compared pastures. On pastures, found more endangered species, Carabus distinct assemblage maize. However, attribute lack increased traits intensive regime, which resulted compositional structural homogeneity vegetation. Still, presence specialized indicated potential organically dispersal through otherwise depleted fragmented landscape. By increasing crop ICLS, resources foraging nesting are created; therefore, add multi-functionality landscapes.

Incidence of infection of carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

The prevalence of obligate parasitic fungi may depend partly on the environmental conditions prevailing in the habitats of their hosts. Ectoparasitic fungi of the order Laboulbeniales (Ascomycetes) infect arthropods and form thalli on the host’s body surface. Although several studies report the incidence of infection of certain host species by these fungi, quantitative data on laboulbenialean f...

A new genus and species of Discozerconidae (Acari: Mesostigmata) from carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in New Zealand .

Berzercon ferdinandi gen. nov., sp. nov. (Acari: Mesostigmata: Discozerconidae) is described from carabid beetles in New Zealand. As in all Discozerconidae, Berzercon has large ventrally-directed opisthogastric suckers. However it is distinctive in its long marginal setae, tripartite gnathotectum, fused palp tibia and tarsus, the female's large dome-shaped genital shield and the male's highly m...

Species Radiation of Carabid Beetles (Broscini: Mecodema) in New Zealand

New Zealand biodiversity has often been viewed as Gondwanan in origin and age, but it is increasingly apparent from molecular studies that diversification, and in many cases origination of lineages, postdate the break-up of Gondwanaland. Relatively few studies of New Zealand animal species radiations have as yet been reported, and here we consider the species-rich genus of carabid beetles, Meco...

The Trade-off Between Housing Density and Sprawl Area: Minimizing Impacts to Carabid Beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

Increasing housing density has negative effects on native biodiversity. This implies that we should build at low density to conserve native species. However, for a given human population, low-density development must cover a large area, resulting in sprawl. A pertinent question is then, at what housing density are the impacts of a given human population on native biodiversity minimized? We addr...
